It’s time to ask – R U OK?

A conversation that could change a life…

R U OK? Day is Thursday 9 September. It’s our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” if someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. This year the message is:

Are they really OK? Ask them today.

We are encouraging everyone to reach out and ask; R U Ok? Please reach out to your club members, players, volunteers – check in on them and let them know that they haven’t been forgotten about while sport is on hold.

You don’t need to be an expert to reach out – just a good friend and a great listener.  The work of R U OK? focusses on educating and supporting Australians to feel more confident in asking ‘R U OK?

Hey Sport, R U OK?

Hey Sport, R U OK? is a campaign to benefit all participants, officials, administrators and supporters across the grassroots sporting community. The first phase of the campaign provides resources and tips for coaches to help them build an R U OK? culture to support their athletes and players. It is an all-of-sport-community approach to empower and build confidence amongst potential ‘help-givers’ as part of our shared responsibility to ensure all members of our sporting community feel safe and supported.

Download the Hey Sport, R U OK? Toolkit for materials and resources that can help you build a culture of respect, trust, authenticity and a willingness to support those who might be struggling with life. Within the toolkit is a really valuable Conversation Guide to support those who do ask R U Ok? and to know when and learn how to ask “Are you OK?” It also includes information on how to respond appropriately to anyone who says, “No. I’m not OK.”
