Healthy Kids Advisors – Central Goldfields

Meet Ciel Lindley — Healthy Kids Advisor, Central Goldfields

As the Healthy Kids Advisor for the Central Goldfields Shire, I’m working closely with local health partners to support the community with their healthy eating priorities.

The Healthy Kids Advisors initiative is funded by the Victorian Government and delivered by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation. The initiative leans on the reputation and success of the Foundations’ pleasurable food education to engage children and young people with healthy, delicious, fresh food so they can form positive food habits for life. Along the way, we will support the state-wide Vic Kids Eat Well movement to boost healthy food and drink options in the places where children and young people learn and play.

Starting Small

We can make small adjustments to create big outcomes for the health and wellbeing, performance and enjoyment of our children and young people now and into the future.

I am working with local fund-raising groups across the community and within schools on Awesome Sauce! This is a fun, hands-on sauce making drive creating flavoursome low-salt, low-sugar and additive free BBQ sauces and tomato sauces which can be used for fundraising and the always popular sausage sizzles. Schools, clubs, and workplaces will come together at the end of 2023 to compete with their home-made sauces and celebrate the healthy and delicious changes we’ve made at a Community BBQ!

Bite sized changes like this can make a huge difference in our children’s futures and be fun for the whole community. Contact me if you are interested in an Awesome Sauce! workshop at your club or centre or the end of year Awesome Sauce! Community BBQ.

Working collaboratively

As a community, we love to support our children and young people to enjoy active, healthy lifestyles. I’m here to listen and collaborate with local voices to make the changes our families and young people want to see at their clubs, leisure centres and schools. As the Healthy Kids Advisor for the Central Goldfields Shire, I’m working closely with Adam Tarr, Health Broker – Healthy Loddon Campaspe (HLC) and Ned Patterson, Health Promoter – Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS). Both Adam and Ned are helping clubs and facilities to make changes and provide resources for these changes. This might be enhancing a kiosk to include tasty, nourishing snacks or replacing sugary sports drinks with delicious, energy-boosting smoothies. Together we can share how other settings have achieved simple goals and connect you with local grants, rewards, and opportunities. Best of all, this is free, tailored advice. Contact Adam to get signed up today!
