FREE Accidental Counsellor workshops – would you know what to say?

  • Do other people within your club turn to you for advice and guidance?
  • Do you want to help people feel better, but sometimes don’t know what to say?
  • Do you get worried you might say the ‘wrong’ thing, or make things worse?
  • Do you want to feel more confident when supporting others?

The past couple of years have presented so many challenges to everyone, and whether we are able to talk to each other face to face or in other ways, it’s important that we continue to check in with our friends and club members. And when we do, we want to feel confident in knowing what to say. We could find ourselves speaking with people who are upset, distressed, sad, anxious, confused, hurt, lonely or simply need someone to listen to them. If you’re not a trained counsellor, it can be difficult to manage these conversations with confidence.

Your sporting club plays an important role in connecting people to their community, so it is important that the environment is safe, supportive and welcoming.

Sports Focus is conducting a FREE online Accidental Counsellor workshop for volunteers of sporting clubs within the Mount Alexander Shire Council.

The Accidental Counsellor online workshop is practical, interactive and will benefit anyone required to provide regular informal support and counselling.
