Sports Focus receives funding from a number of different sources which enable us to support the sport and recreation community across the Loddon Campaspe region.
Has allowed Sports Focus to provide information and targeted support to local clubs, leagues and associations across the Loddon Campaspe region. The program builds the capacity and sustainability of clubs to enable them to increase participation in community sport and active recreation. We assist with issues such as good governance, volunteer management and development, fundraising, equity, diversity and inclusion, safety and integrity.
VicHealth’s 3-year program (2018-2021) has two main focus areas – Women and Girls, and Youth (12-17 year olds). The Regional Sport Program supports growth in active participation through sport, while encouraging clubs to be more inclusive of both women and girls, and youth. As a Community Partner of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, Sports Focus works with community based sporting clubs to promote the responsible management of alcohol which will assist to increase the viability of sporting clubs and create a welcoming and friendly club environment. Good Sports’ major focus is to support sporting club committees to progressively change the way alcohol is managed at all activities within the club’s grounds and associated functions.
The Local Drug Action Team Program, which is managed by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation and funded by the Australian Government, supports organisations to build or extend partnerships in their community and use local knowledge to deliver evidence-informed alcohol and other drug harm prevention activities that are tailored to the needs of their local area. Sports Focus is the lead agency in a partnership between Heathcote Community House, Heathcote Health and the City of Greater Bendigo.
The Active Ageing Initiative is a partnership being funded by the Australian Institute of Sport, Department of Health and Human Services and VicHealth. Working within the Central Goldfields and Loddon Shires, the project aims to encourage those who are 65 years+ to become more physically active and engage in physical activity and recreational opportunities within their communities.
These partnerships are also being supported by local government, community-based organisations, the Healthier Eating Active Living (HEAL) working group along with community health service organisations and Sports Focus to ensure the project reaches all members of the community.
